Qevoxyl — Privacy Policy

Summary (TL;DR)

Offline by default: Qevoxyl runs Whisper locally; audio and transcripts stay on your PC.
Local storage: data saves under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Qevoxyl\.
No telemetry or tracking: we don't collect usage, identifiers, or analytics.
Optional network use: first-time model download, or Online TTS if enabled.
You're in control: delete your data anytime.

Offline by Default: All audio recordings, transcriptions, and model inference occur on your own device.
Local Storage: Files are stored under your user profile at C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\Qevoxyl\ (e.g., models, recordings, voice, logs).
No Cloud Uploads: Qevoxyl does not upload or share your data with any third-party service unless you explicitly enable optional features described below.

Model Downloads: The first time you select a Whisper model, Qevoxyl downloads the model file from its official source. Once cached locally, no further internet connection is required.
Online Text-to-Speech (TTS): If you enable the optional Online TTS toggle, the text you choose to be spoken may be sent to a cloud TTS service to generate audio. This setting is off by default.
Updates & Integrity Checks: If you download Qevoxyl updates or verify installer checksums, your browser/OS may log metadata (such as IP address) with the hosting or certificate provider.

Qevoxyl does not collect or transmit:

We deliberately designed Qevoxyl to avoid remote telemetry or tracking.

Crash Logs (Local): If the application encounters errors, diagnostic logs may be written to your logs directory.
User Support (Optional): If you choose to send us logs for troubleshooting, those files may contain technical details about your system or environment. We only use them to resolve your support request and delete them after resolution.

OpenAI Whisper (via PyTorch) — used for offline transcription.
FFmpeg — bundled fallback for audio decoding.
Online TTS (optional) — if enabled, uses a cloud TTS service to synthesize speech from text you provide.

Data is sandboxed per Windows user account (no admin rights are required to install or run).
Installers and binaries can be checksum-verified; code signing may be applied to released builds.
No background network processes are initiated without your knowledge.

GDPR (EU/EEA Users): Because Qevoxyl keeps data on your device and does not collect it on our servers, we are generally not a data controller or processor for your audio/transcripts. You retain full control.
CCPA/CPRA (California Users): Qevoxyl does not sell, share, or monetize user data. We do not collect personal identifiers or usage patterns.

You are in full control of your recordings and transcriptions.
You can delete your data at any time by removing the local Qevoxyl folders under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Qevoxyl\.
If you contact us for support, you may request deletion of any correspondence or logs you shared with us.
